Personalized Napkins for Bridal Showers: What Every Host Should Decide First

October 21, 2026 · Napki Admin

Personalized napkins for bridal showers start with a question most hosts answer last.

Most hosts open with the font and the color. The better first question is what the napkin has to do. Hold a mimosa at brunch? Sit under a slice of cake? Match the wedding that comes a few months later?

Answer that, and the size, the paper and the print method follow on their own. Skip it, and you end up comparing fonts for a napkin that is the wrong size.

So start there. Then work through the rest in the order you will actually need to decide it.

What are personalized napkins for bridal showers?

Personalized napkins for bridal showers are small printed paper napkins with the bride’s name, initials, the shower date or a short line. Napki prints them from 20 units in Full Color or 100 in Deluxe. Delivery takes 10 business days from proof approval with FedEx Priority, or about 14–16 with Economy, US customs clearance included.

Most showers use the cocktail size. Guests hold a drink, take a bite of something sweet, and move around the room. A small napkin fits that rhythm.

Larger showers with a seated lunch often add a dinner-size napkin too. The design can stay the same on both.

Step one: decide what the napkin has to do

Each shower format asks for something different. Use this table to find yours.

Shower format What the napkin does Napki size that fits (open) Folded, in inches
Brunch with mimosasSits under a glass, wipes fingers20×20 cmabout 3.9 in
Afternoon teaHolds a pastry or a scone24×24 cmabout 4.7 in
Dessert tableWraps a slice of cake24×24 cmabout 4.7 in
Seated lunchGoes on the lap during the meal33×33 cmabout 6.5 in
Formal dinner showerSits on the plate as a place setting40×40 cmabout 7.9 in

The cocktail size is 20×20 cm open, which folds to 10×10 cm. The 24×24 cm napkin folds to 12×12 cm and sits closest to the 5-inch beverage napkin US hosts know.

One warning saves a lot of trouble. “20×20” can also describe a 40×40 cm dinner napkin folded to 20×20 cm. Always write “cocktail, 20×20 cm open” in your request. The napkin sizes guide shows both side by side.

What should you print on bridal shower napkins?

Print one short idea that reads at arm’s length. A folded napkin shows only a quarter of its surface. That quarter is where your design goes.

These are the most common choices for a shower:

  1. The bride’s first name in a script font, with the shower date underneath.
  2. A monogram with her initials, or the couple’s future shared initial.
  3. A short line, such as “Bride to be”, “Brunch and bubbly” or “She said yes”.
  4. A small illustration that fits the theme: a citrus slice, a teacup, a flower.
  5. A photo of the couple, printed in Full Color on white napkins.

Read every letter twice before you approve. Then ask someone else to read it. A misspelled name is the one mistake you cannot fix with a ribbon.

Keep the date honest too. If the shower might move, leave the date off. A name and a monogram stay correct whatever happens.

Full Color or Deluxe: which print suits a shower?

Choose Full Color for photos, watercolor flowers and designs with three or more colors. It prints on white napkins only and starts at 20 units, with no printing plate. Choose Deluxe for a name or monogram in one or two solid colors, on white or colored napkins, from 100 units.

That minimum of 20 units matters for small showers. A group of 20 to 30 guests can order exactly what it needs. The Full Color napkins page shows how photos and gradients print.

Deluxe uses a metal plate for each ink. One ink costs $49.09 for its plate, and two inks cost $98.18. You pay once per design. Metallic gold and silver count as Deluxe inks. A gold monogram on a colored napkin is a Deluxe job. The Deluxe napkins page explains the method.

Have the bride’s name and a color in mind? Send them over. A free digital mock-up comes back within 24 hours, with up to 2 rounds of changes. Calculate your price in 30 seconds.

Which paper feels right at a shower?

Napki offers four paper qualities. The right one depends on how formal the shower is.

  • 2-ply: two layers of soft tissue. Fine for a relaxed backyard brunch.
  • 3-ply: three layers, thicker and more absorbent. A good match for iced drinks.
  • Double Point: 2-ply with an embossed border on two opposite edges. It adds texture.
  • Airlaid: a specialty paper that feels and drapes almost like fabric.

Airlaid is the wedding favorite, and many hosts pick it for a formal shower too. The paper qualities page compares all four in detail.

Not every paper comes in every size and print method. The quote calculator on the home page only shows combinations that exist, so you cannot pick one that does not.

When should you order bridal shower napkins?

Approve your proof about five weeks before the shower. Delivery takes 10 business days from that approval with FedEx Priority, or about 14–16 with Economy, US customs clearance included.

Five weeks leaves a comfortable buffer either way.

Count backwards from the shower date:

  1. Seven weeks before: choose the wording, the colors and the size.
  2. Six weeks before: send your idea. The mock-up arrives within 24 hours.
  3. Five weeks before: use your 2 revision rounds, then approve the proof.
  4. Two to three weeks before: the napkins arrive. Store them flat and dry.

There is no express service for US orders. A late start cannot be rescued with a rush fee, which is why the calendar comes first.

How much does shipping add, and who pays duties?

Shipping is charged per FedEx box, not per napkin. How many napkins fit in a small or large box depends on the size and paper quality. Both rates cover the 48 contiguous states.

Box Napkins per box FedEx Economy FedEx Priority
SmallDepends on size and paper$138.00$184.00
LargeDepends on size and paper$161.00$224.25

Orders ship DAP. Napki charges no VAT, because the order is an export. The buyer pays import duties, the Merchandise Processing Fee and any state or local taxes when the box arrives. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.

A worked example. A host plans a brunch shower for 40 guests. Drinks and dessert mean about three napkins each, so 120 napkins. The design is a watercolor bouquet with the bride’s name, so Full Color on white 20×20 cm napkins. There is no plate fee. The order fits one small box. The host approves the proof five weeks out and picks Economy.

Many hosts also order a second batch later for the wedding itself, with the same monogram. The wedding napkins page shows how cocktail and dinner sizes work together.

Can you see the napkins before you order?

Yes. You get a free digital mock-up within 24 hours, with up to 2 rounds of changes. You only pay if you decide to go ahead.

If you want to touch the paper first, the free sample pack contains 5 printed napkins in 3 finishes and a printed size guide. The sample itself is free. You pay only the FedEx shipping, charged as one small box: Economy $138.00 or Priority $184.00.

If the printed napkins do not match your approved mock-up, Napki reprints them free of charge.
